Eagle Power Outage Today: More Than 23,000 Customers Affected as Crews Respond

Eagle, Idaho — A widespread power outage affected more than 23,000 Idaho Power customers in Eagle and Star on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, prompting crews to respond to the disruption.

Idaho Power reported that the outage was connected to third-party damage. Crews were dispatched to the affected area and began working to repair the damage and restore electricity to customers.

The outage caused significant disruption across the two communities, with the initial number of affected customers exceeding 23,000. Idaho Power initially estimated that service could be restored by approximately 7 p.m.

The situation improved considerably as restoration efforts progressed. By 6:45 p.m., Idaho Power reported that the number of customers still without electricity had dropped to 4,310, indicating that crews had restored power to a large portion of those affected.

The outage also affected local activities in Eagle. Local reporting said the widespread power failure resulted in the cancellation of an Eagle City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening.

Idaho Power advises customers to use its official outage center and outage map for the latest information about active outages, estimated restoration times and reported causes. The company also warns residents to stay at least 100 feet away from any downed power lines and to call 911 if they encounter a dangerous electrical situation.

Power restoration can occur at different times for customers in the same neighborhood because individual properties may be served by different electrical feeders. Idaho Power says crews prioritize hazardous situations before restoring service to customers and critical facilities.

The Eagle outage demonstrates how quickly a large service disruption can affect thousands of customers, but restoration was already well underway by Tuesday evening.
