Edwin Lynch Obituary, Willard Ohio Death: Beloved 74-Year-Old Dies After Huron County Crash

Edwin Lynch, a 74-year-old resident of Willard, Ohio, has died following serious injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in Huron County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the intersection of State Routes 61 and 103 in New Haven Township. Lynch was driving a 2018 Toyota Tundra eastbound on State Route 103 when his vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a northbound 2025 Mack Pinnacle semi-truck.

Troopers said the preliminary investigation indicates that Lynch failed to stop at the posted stop sign at State Route 61. He suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported by Cleveland Metro Life Flight to Cleveland MetroHealth. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on Sunday, September 20, four days after the collision.

The semi-truck was operated by 35-year-old Eric Smith of Mansfield. Smith was not injured in the crash. Authorities said both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

Emergency crews from the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Willard Fire Department, North Central EMS and other agencies responded to the scene. The intersection was temporarily closed for approximately one hour while authorities investigated the crash.
