A34 Oxfordshire Crash: Serious Collision Causes Traffic Delays Between Chilton and Didcot

A serious collision on the A34 in Oxfordshire has caused significant disruption, with the northbound carriageway closed between the A4185 at Chilton and the A4130 at Didcot.

National Highways confirmed that the crash involved a motorcycle and a van. Emergency services, including Thames Valley Police and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance, attended the scene, while National Highways traffic officers were also deployed to assist with traffic management.

The northbound closure is expected to remain in place while police conduct collision-investigation work. Motorists travelling through the area have been warned to expect delays and are being advised to allow additional time or consider alternative routes.

The official diversion directs northbound traffic away from the A34 at the Chilton Interchange onto the A4185. Drivers then continue toward Rowstock before joining the A4130 and eventually returning to the A34 at the Milton Interchange.

At the time of the latest official update, authorities had not released full details about the people involved, the extent of any injuries or the circumstances that led to the collision.

The incident is separate from planned A34 works elsewhere in Oxfordshire. Oxfordshire County Council has also warned of future southbound restrictions connected with the Harwell layby project, including overnight closures between Milton and Chilton scheduled for October 2–5, 2026.
