Constance “Connie” Hollon Obituary, Cause of Death: Bellville, Ohio Matriarch Dies at 85

BELLVILLE, Ohio — Constance Kaye “Connie” Hollon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and longtime Bellville-area resident, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Primrose Retirement Community following an extended illness. She was 85.

Born on October 19, 1940, to Kermit and Doris (Bender) Atterholt, Connie grew up in the area and attended both Loudonville and Bellville High Schools before graduating from Central High School in Columbus. She later met Richard “Dick” Hollon at a Bellville football game, beginning a relationship that became a lifelong partnership. They married on September 12, 1957.

Family was at the center of Connie’s life. She was a devoted mother and Nana who took pride in supporting her children and grandchildren at sporting events and school activities. She was remembered for her patience, loyalty, humor and quiet dedication to the people she loved.

Connie also stood beside her husband as he built Hollon Art Service, offering encouragement and support throughout his career. Away from family and work, she enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with her dogs and following Ohio sports. Family gatherings, particularly around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day, were among her most treasured traditions.

Cause of death: Connie’s obituary states that she passed away following an extended illness but does not identify a specific medical cause. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.

She is survived by her children Rick Hollon, Mary Beth Irwin and Michelle Graser; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; her brother Mike Oyster; and extended family members.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Hollon, her parents and her brother Larry Atterholt. A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Bellville Cemetery.
