Eastbourne Stabbing Today: 13-Year-Old Boy Injured in Seafront Assault

Eastbourne, England — A 13-year-old boy was stabbed near the Eastbourne seafront on Sunday, September 20, 2026, prompting a major police investigation and several arrests.

Sussex Police said the incident happened at about 5:10 p.m. on Grand Parade, near the junctions with Elms Avenue and Cavendish Place. The boy suffered an injury consistent with a stabbing and was airlifted to hospital for treatment. Police later confirmed that he was recovering at home.

Officers initially arrested five local people following the incident: three boys aged 16, 16 and 17, a 22-year-old woman, and a 20-year-old man. The arrests were made on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm as detectives worked to establish what happened.

A subsequent police update identified the 20-year-old man as Kyle Saupe of Cavendish Place, Eastbourne. He was charged with wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon and was remanded to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court. The two 16-year-old boys, the 17-year-old boy and the 22-year-old woman were released on bail with conditions while enquiries continued.

Police have also been searching for a knife believed to have been involved in the incident. Investigators are appealing for witnesses and anyone who may have CCTV, mobile-phone footage or dashcam recordings from the area between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on September 20.

Sussex Police said there would be an increased police presence around the seafront while the investigation continued. Authorities have urged the public not to speculate about the circumstances and asked anyone with relevant information to contact police, quoting serial 1096 of 20/09.
