Greenvale Melbourne Firearms Incident: 29-Year-Old Man Arrested After Alleged Confrontation on Peak Road

A 29-year-old man from Meadow Heights was arrested following a firearms incident in Greenvale, Melbourne, after an alleged confrontation outside a residence on Peak Road on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Victoria Police said two occupants of a property noticed the man loitering near their residence at about 9 a.m. When the pair confronted him, police allege that he pushed a 62-year-old woman to the ground as he attempted to flee.

Investigators allege the man then walked to a nearby Toyota van and returned carrying a firearm. Police were told that he pointed the weapon at a 66-year-old man. During a struggle, the older man managed to disarm him, after which the suspect fled on foot and left the vehicle behind.

The 62-year-old woman was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The 66-year-old man was not physically injured during the confrontation.

Police later arrested the 29-year-old man in Meadow Heights shortly after 2 p.m. He was taken into custody and was expected to be interviewed by investigators in connection with the incident. Police have not indicated that charges had been laid at the time of their initial statement.

The Toyota van involved was believed to have been recently stolen from the Somerton area, adding another element to the ongoing investigation.

Victoria Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and have appealed for witnesses, CCTV footage and dashcam recordings that could assist detectives.

There were no reported fatalities in the Peak Road incident. Further details about potential charges are expected as the investigation progresses.
