Destiny Gay and Robbie Grant Obituary, Dannemora New York Death: Two Lives Lost in Tragic UTV Crash

Destiny Gay, 24, of West Chazy, New York, and Robbie Grant, 54, of Hogansburg, died after a UTV crash in Dannemora, Clinton County, on Friday evening, September 18, 2026. The fatal collision occurred on Sunset Road, west of Lyon Mountain, according to New York State Police and local reports.

Police said Gay was driving the utility terrain vehicle when she lost control while traveling along the north shoulder of Sunset Road. The UTV left the roadway and struck a tree before flipping. Grant was riding as a passenger.

Authorities were alerted to the crash shortly before 7 p.m. Emergency responders from Lyon Mountain Fire and Rescue arrived and found both occupants unresponsive. The Clinton County Coroner’s Office subsequently pronounced Gay and Grant dead at the scene.

The deaths have brought attention to another serious UTV crash in the North Country, where off-road vehicles are commonly used for recreation and transportation. However, investigators have not released additional details about what caused Gay to lose control.

New York State Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Autopsies for both Gay and Grant were scheduled as authorities worked to establish additional details surrounding their deaths.
