Wanda Jean Marshall Obituary, Harrisonburg Louisiana Death: Beloved Navy Veteran and Registered Nurse Dies at 70

Wanda Jean Marshall, 70, of Harrisonburg, Louisiana, died Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Baton Rouge, according to her family’s published obituary through Young’s Funeral Home. She was remembered as a dedicated registered nurse, United States Navy veteran, mother and grandmother whose life was defined by hard work, faith and devotion to her family.

Born September 7, 1956, in New Orleans, Marshall was described as a strong and independent woman who took pride in providing for and supporting her children. Her nursing career included work as an emergency-room nurse in Baton Rouge, where she cared for patients during difficult moments.

Her years of military service were another important part of her life. As a Navy veteran, Marshall carried a record of service alongside her professional commitment to caring for others.

Away from work, she enjoyed scuba diving during her younger years, as well as crocheting, reading, watching westerns and shopping. She was also a member of Harrisonburg First Baptist Church and maintained a strong Christian faith.

Family was at the center of Marshall’s life. Her children and grandchildren were described in the obituary as her greatest joy. She is survived by her daughter, Lynnette Taylor; son Philip Allen Berry and his wife, Melissa; brother Greg Marshall and his wife, Terri; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 25, at 2 p.m. at Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville, with Sister Sharon White officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., followed by interment at Heard Cemetery in Manifest. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
